Are you an academic currently employed at the University of Leeds looking to further your practice-based research in your field alongside one of the UK’s five national opera companies? Do you desire to undertake original research into aspects of Opera North’s work, create new material and deliver academic and/or public-facing events?
For 15 years DARE has been the flagship partnership between the University of Leeds and Opera North, making a joint contribution to learning and practice in the cultural sector. Over the years, DARE has worked with academics who have been granted honorary status as DARE Academics-in-Residence.
Open to academics in any discipline, the DARE Academic-in-Residence 2023/24 will have access over a 12-month period to staff, performers, rehearsals and performances as well as desk space at the Howard Opera Centre in Leeds to explore their area of interest on a part-time basis alongside their usual academic role. During the residency there may also be opportunities to connect with Opera North audiences and partners in the academic, cultural and community sectors.
Please note this is an unsalaried position but funding of up to £1000 is available to support research activity, subject to prior approval. Deadline: 2nd October 2023
