The DARE film series connects the public, the artist and the academic.
The DARE International Film Series is a long-standing DARE initiative through which Opera North and the University of Leeds collaborate to present world-class film, with insightful introductions from academics.
Over the last ten years more than 30 films have been shown, from Szabó’s masterpiece Mephisto and Hayne’s Carol to Del Toro’s Cronos and Lars Von Trier’s remarkable Breaking Waves.
This rich and varied programme of film from across the globe continues to be a pillar of DARE’s public engagement work and has seen academics from areas including French, History, Italian, Cinema, Literature and American Studies share valuable insights.
