The first DARE Liberty Lecture of 2022 will take place on Thurs 24 Feb 2022, delivered by former Chief Crown Prosecutor for North West England Nazir Afzal OBE.

Nazir’s legal career has spanned nearly a quarter of a century, during which time he has been at the forefront of some of the most high-profile, complex and harrowing cases in the country, including the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal. Nazir published his memoir, The Prosecutor, in April 2020 to critical acclaim, an adaptation of which will soon appear as a British multipart drama. His recent appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs was the second most-listened to episode of 2021.

Nazir’s lecture will take place at 7.30pm in the Howard Assembly Room, 46 New Briggate, Leeds.

Tickets cost £8 (£5 for members of the Opera North Under 30s scheme) and can be booked here.
